Adventure Rank (AR)
Account-wide meta-progression that gates features, dungeons, NPC services, and rewards. AR matters more long-term than your character level.
Key idea
Adventure Rank is earned by completing Adventure Handbook entries — taking photos of
monsters, NPCs, items, gear, and locations. AR is account-wide (or character-wide depending
on category — [VERIFY]) and unlocks new features at threshold ranks: skills, gear tiers,
class advances, dungeon access, NPC discounts, and more.
How to gain AR
- Photos: monster photos, NPC photos, scenery photos
- Item discoveries: registering items in the handbook
- Gear discoveries: registering equipment
- Headgear discoveries: registering crafted/owned headwear
- Card discoveries: registering monster cards
- Quest milestones: certain quests award AR points
- Achievement milestones: account-level achievements
[VERIFY]
Each entry awards AR XP and often a one-time stat / zeny / item reward.
Why it matters
- Unlocks: new skill slots, new dungeons, NPC services
- Stat bonuses: AR rewards include permanent stat points
- Gating: many late-game features check AR ≥ X
- Compounding: high AR enables more efficient farming → easier future AR
Strategy
- Photo monsters as you encounter them, always. Free AR.
- Cheap headgear blueprints: craft → register → AR (then sell or recycle if low value)
- Cards: registering cards gives big AR; it’s worth registering one of each card you can buy cheap
- Don’t grind AR in isolation — pursue it as a side effect of normal play; the most
efficient AR/time comes from playing the game, not from AR-only farming sessions

Reward tiers
A full per-rank reward table belongs in ar-rewards.md. Key milestones
worth tracking [VERIFY all of these]:
- AR 20, 30, 40, … step rewards
- Notable thresholds where dungeons / class features unlock
Edge cases / gotchas
- Some categories are per-character, not account-wide → check before swapping mains
[VERIFY current scope rules] - “Hidden” entries exist (rare monsters, rare items) — completionists may want a tracker
- Photo quality / completion rate may matter
