Adventure Skills
Skills you buy with Adventure Skill Points earned from Adventure Rank-ups. Permanent, account-impacting QoL and farming utilities. Acquired from Roland in northern Prontera.
Key idea
Each Adventure Rank-up grants 1 Adventure Skill Point. You spend them at NPC Roland on a roster of skills that unlock over time as your AR climbs. These aren’t combat skills (mostly) — they’re automation, detection, drop, and convenience unlocks. Several are game-changing for AFK farming.
How to acquire
- NPC: Roland — northern part of Prontera city
- Currency: Adventure Skill Points (1 per AR-up) + zeny for some skills
- Reset: possible via specific item / cost

Core hunting / detection chain
Buy these in order — each one is a prerequisite for the next:
Falcon Perception
- Effect: Reveals Mini Bosses on your minimap (grey icon)
- Use: Required to even see Minis. Without this, you only know one’s around if you literally walk into it.
Wolf King Perception
- Effect: Reveals MVP Bosses on your minimap (gold icon) within ~20m
- Cost: 80,000 zeny + skill point
- Use: Same as Falcon Perception but for MVPs
Precision Hunting (a.k.a. “Accurate Hunting” in some translations)
- Rank required: Adventurer Rank B
- Prerequisites: Falcon Perception AND Wolf King Perception
- Released: May 2020 (EP 7.0 patch wave)
- Effect: When a Mini Boss or MVP enters range, your character automatically locks on and engages it
- Real practical purpose: AFK boss-spawn auto-engage. Combined with Stay Alert + Combat Skill II, lets you handle boss spawns while AFK.
- In-game tooltip is confusing — the wording doesn’t make the AFK use case clear
Combat synergy with Mini boss “first hit” rule
Auto-lock = your character taps the mini first when it spawns nearby. Mini loot rule is first hit gets ALL drops (see mvp-mini-mechanics.md). So Precision Hunting effectively automates mini-loot-winning during AFK farms. Borderline meta-defining for serious AFK farmers in mini-spawn maps.
Other key adventure skills
Auto-farm enablers
- Stay Alert — Stand at a spot and attack/farm without moving. Critical for ranged classes; also useful for melee at endgame. Unlocked at Scout rank.
- Combat Skill II — Unlocks the Auto Skill button for AFK skill rotations. Without this, you only auto-attack.
- Mercenary Pact — Summon 2 mercenary cats to assist solo farming.
Convenience / QoL
- Backpack Expansion — More inventory slots
- Dimensional Fracture — Grants Ymir’s Notebook (save / load builds for 500K zeny + 1 skill point); unlocked at Adventurer Rank C
- Free View — Camera mode for exploring / screenshots
- Hand in Hand — Cooperative travel; saves transport zeny
- Prepare for Elite — Combines up to 7 buffs into a single short-cast skill
Drops / hunting bonuses
- Group Hunting — Drop rate boost (item + card) when in a party with different jobs. Big for card hunting parties.
- Ghost Camera — Required to photograph Ghostring for Adventure Handbook. Without it, you can’t get the Ghostring entry.
Suggested learning order (assassin path / Soul Blade Cross)
| Priority | Skill | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stay Alert | AFK foundation |
| 2 | Combat Skill II | Auto Skill rotation |
| 3 | Falcon Perception | See Minis |
| 4 | Wolf King Perception | See MVPs (also gates Precision Hunting) |
| 5 | Precision Hunting | AFK boss auto-engage; first-hit loot for Minis |
| 6 | Group Hunting | If running cards parties |
| 7 | Dimensional Fracture | Build saving (gear / stat swaps) |
| 8 | Ghost Camera | Adventure Handbook completion |
| 9 | Mercenary Pact | Solo farming aid |
| 10 | Backpack Expansion | When inventory pressure hits |
The full AFK boss-aware farm combo
- Stay Alert — stay at the spot
- Combat Skill II — auto-skill running
- Falcon Perception — see Minis
- Wolf King Perception — see MVPs
- Precision Hunting — auto-engage when boss enters range
Together: park your character in a mini-spawn zone, queue auto-skill rotation, walk away. When the mini spawns within range, your character auto-targets it, your auto-skill rotation fires, first hit lands on you, and you collect all the loot when it dies.
Common pitfalls
- Skipping Falcon/Wolf King Perception to “save zeny” — you waste hours walking past undetected bosses. Buy these early.
- Spending skill points on cosmetic / gimmick skills before the AFK chain. Cosmetics will be there forever; auto-farming compounds now.
- Resetting / refunding randomly — refund cost is non-trivial; plan once, buy in priority order
- Forgetting the Mini damage cap (5% HP / hit) — Precision Hunting auto-lock doesn’t change this; you still need 20+ hits
