Tips & Tricks

Practical know-how that doesn’t fit other notes. Living document — add a new entry whenever you learn a non-obvious trick. Keep entries tight (one block each) and group by category.

How to use this note

  • Search: grep -i "fly wing" tips-and-tricks.md
  • Add a new trick: pick a category, append a ### Trick name block with a one-line summary and 3–5 bullets
  • If a trick grows past ~20 lines or becomes a system in itself, promote it to its own topic note and link from here

Movement & travel

Fly Wing — squeeze every zeny of value

  • What: 1,800 zeny consumable; teleports you to a random spot on the same map (Butterfly Wing = 3,600 zeny, changes maps)
  • Spam to save walking time: time > zeny; 3–5 fly wings usually land you closer than walking would have. The zeny is trivial.
  • MVP / Mini scanning: bosses spawn random and teleport. Spam fly wings to scan zones faster than walking the perimeter.
  • Emergency escape: 1,800 zeny “panic button”. CAVEAT: in party MVP runs, don’t fly wing out — you break party damage chains and may lose MVP credit (first hit + last hit + most damage rules).
  • Quest navigation: 2–3 fly wings before walking can shave a minute per quest.
  • Contested MVP: watch for Knights using Provoke + fly wing — known steal tactic in competitive boss hunting.
  • Auto-stock: keep ~99 in inventory; auto-buy from Kafra/Sundries before the run, never run out mid-MVP-hunt.

Class-skill teleports (free fly wings)

  • Acolyte / Priest / AB / Monk / Champion: Teleport skill (Lv 1 = random spot, Lv 2 = save point) — totally free, never buy fly wings
  • Other classes have niche options (warlock variants, etc.) [VERIFY current options]

Soul Blade Cross movement options (your kit)

  • Back Sliding — short escape + 5s Hide; “mini fly wing” with no zeny cost
  • Dark Illusion — directional dash + 70% Cross Impact trigger; double-duty as gap-closer and damage
  • Hallucination Walk — +50% MS, +50 FLEE/Crit Res for ~5s; often faster than fly wing for short hops

Practical pattern: short hops → free skills; medium hops → fly wing (cheap RNG); cross-map → Butterfly Wing (expensive but deterministic).

Combat & farming

(add tricks here as you learn them — examples to seed:)

Auto-attack vs skill spam

  • Assassin-line classes (incl. SBC) are one of the few classes effectively played with Ctrl-click rather than skill-spam, thanks to EDP scaling auto-attacks
  • Skill spam still wins for burst windows; auto-attack wins for sustained ASPD-driven content

Mini boss “first hit” rule (different from MVP!)

  • MVPs: first hit + last hit + most damage all share credit
  • Minis: first hit gets ALL the loot — last hit and damage don’t matter
  • In contested mini hunts, race the tap with your fastest ranged option:
    • SBC: Soul Breaker (1320% ATK + INT × 70, ranged) is your best tag
    • Cheap option: Venom Dart (250% ATK, ranged, low SP cost)
  • Don’t politely wait for the tank to engage on minis — you’ll lose the drops
  • → Full mechanics: mvp-mini-mechanics.md

Mini boss damage cap (5% per hit)

  • You literally cannot one-shot a mini — each attack deals max 5% of HP
  • Plan for 20+ swings minimum regardless of how geared you are
  • ASPD / sustain matters more than burst on minis specifically

Mini respawn timer is gated by Premium Card

  • F2P players cannot see the in-game mini boss respawn counter
  • Workaround: log your own kill times; check back 30–60 min later same channel
  • Only Smokie (30 min) has publicly documented timer — others vary
  • Premium Card is a high-value affordable BCC unlock for active hunters

AFK boss-aware farm combo (5-skill stack)

The full AFK loop that auto-engages Minis/MVPs the moment they spawn near you:

  1. Stay Alert — stay at the spot
  2. Combat Skill II — auto-skill rotation runs
  3. Falcon Perception — Minis show on minimap
  4. Wolf King Perception — MVPs show on minimap
  5. Precision Hunting (a.k.a. Accurate Hunting) — auto-locks on Minis/MVPs in range

Park in a mini-spawn zone → walk away → boss spawns → your character taps it first → first-hit rule = all the loot is yours when it dies. Borderline meta-defining for serious AFK farmers. → Full mechanics: adventure-skills.md

”Confusing” tooltip → real use lookup

RO M tooltips are often technically accurate but practically opaque. If a skill/item description doesn’t make sense, check topics/adventure-skills.md or topics/tips-and-tricks.md first — the real use case is often filed there. Example: Precision Hunting’s tooltip says “auto-locks on Mini/MVP in range” but the real purpose is AFK boss-spawn auto-engage.

Economy

(see zeny-farming.md, bcc.md, exchange-market.md for the full deep dives — only quick tips here)

Quick economy reflexes

  • Always set auto-sell before going AFK — turn trash into zeny while you’re not watching
  • Whitesmith alt = more market slots = more flips. Single most valuable alt class for a serious player.
  • Pet Adventures every cycle — passive zeny/cards while you do other stuff
  • Don’t list rares on Exchange for big sales — use Auction (price discovery > fixed price)

Social & PvP

(seed entries):

MVP credit rules

  • Damage credit goes to: first hit + last hit + most damage dealt
  • Solo: trivial. Party: coordinate so the same character takes opener and finisher.
  • This is also why fly-wing-out mid-fight risks losing your share of credit.

Daily / weekly habits

The 60-min “free” boost

  • Music Box in South Prontera field (60 min) → +60 stamina
  • Background it during your AFK time — basically free 20% stamina/day for $0 effort

Stamina cap math

  • Cap is 900 (3 days unspent before further regen wastes)
  • IRL busy day → don’t feel guilty skipping; you have a 3-day buffer
