Soul Blade Cross — Ghost Wave Build — 2026-05

Build-up + burst ranged-physical build. Stack Phantoms via Ghost Wave, consume them with Soul Sacrifice for a massive damage window, dump Soul Depravity. Fundamentally different feel from AA Crit (click-forever) — this one rewards rotation discipline.

You can run both via Ymir’s Notebook (Dimensional Fracture adventure skill) — save AA Crit as one preset, Ghost Wave as another, swap in town.

Why Ghost Wave is interesting

The Phantom math

Ghost Wave is 130% of Soul Breaker damage = 130% × (1320% ATK + INT × 70) = 1716% ATK + 91 × INT per cast.

Each cast also gives +1 Phantom (100% chance). Each Phantom buffs:

  • +10 INT
  • +5 Critical
  • +2% Auto Attack
  • +120% Skill Damage ← the load-bearing one

Stack 5 Phantoms → +600% Skill Damage during the consume window. That’s the burst.

The rotation theory

  1. Build phase: spam Ghost Wave (each cast = +1 Phantom; also damages targets at range)
  2. Stack souls in parallel: kills generate souls, or use Dark Contract (2s ritual to fill cap)
  3. Sacrifice phase: cast Soul Sacrifice → consumes all Phantoms → buff window with the +120% Skill Damage / Phantom
  4. Burst phase: with souls at cap and Phantom buff active, fire Soul Depravity (3000% + 300%/soul AoE) — the big numbers happen here
  5. Re-build for next window

  • Soul Breaker — Ghost Wave is 130% of this; max it for the base
  • Soul Vow / Dark Contract — soul resource management
  • Mind Intimidate — Soul Breaker fear synergy (45% fear, +30% damage to feared) — applies to Ghost Wave’s underlying Soul Breaker calc

Tier 2 — strong supports

  • Hallucination Walk (defensive +50% MS / FLEE / Crit Res)
  • Soul Protection (3 souls → 600% PATK shield)

  • Double Attack + Twin Blade Penetration — dagger AA mechanics; this is a skill-spam build

One-time advice (both builds)

  • Save 3 Skill Reset Rods + 3 Eternal Rocks carefully — only spend on a major re-spec, not exploration
  • For swapping between Crit and Ghost Wave: use Ymir’s Notebook (via Dimensional Fracture adventure skill) — 500K zeny per swap is far cheaper than rod resets

Rotation / playstyle

Standard PvE rotation

  1. Pre-pull: Dark Contract (fill souls), EDP, Hallucination Walk
  2. Engage from range: Ghost Wave → Ghost Wave → Ghost Wave (build 3–5 Phantoms)
  3. Burst window: Soul Sacrifice (consume Phantoms → +120% Skill Damage × stack count)
  4. During buff: Soul Depravity (full souls = 3000% + 300%/soul, multiplied by Phantom buff = massive)
  5. Cleanup: re-build with Ghost Wave; if souls are low, kill trash to refill or Dark Contract again

Single-target MVP rotation

  1. Pre-cast Soul Protection (3 souls → 600% PATK shield)
  2. Soul Breaker (opener — no “from-Hide” bonus, just open directly; user-verified 2026-05-02)
  3. Ghost Wave spam (build Phantoms while target is stunned)
  4. Soul Sacrifice → Soul Depravity (or sustained Ghost Wave with Phantom buff)
  5. Re-cycle stuns / cooldowns

PvP / WoE

  • Ghost Wave is ranged — kite hard with Hallucination Walk + Back Sliding
  • Soul Sacrifice burst window is ~3s — plan it during a Mind Intimidate fear or Soul Chain stun
  • Don’t blow Phantoms on a single target — wait for the Soul Depravity moment

Counters & weaknesses

  • Cast-time vulnerable: Ghost Wave has VCT — interrupted by silence / cast-stop debuffs
  • Resource starvation: low souls + low Phantoms = no burst; less safe in long fights vs the always-ready AA Crit
  • DEX investment: this build needs more DEX than AA Crit for cast time / HIT
  • Ghost-element enemies: physical damage vs Ghost-armored mobs is bad; bring weapon converter

Variants

  • Hybrid: lean a bit toward AA Crit (more LUK/AGI) and use Ghost Wave only as a Phantom generator before Soul Depravity. Sacrifices burst ceiling for sustained DPS.
  • Pure burst: max INT, all Phantom-stacking runes, Soul Depravity nuke focus. Weak vs sustained content but devastating in burst windows.
  • WoE variant: heavy DEF / VIT, max Hallucination Walk uptime, Phantom burst on key targets only. (Multiple PvP rank videos exist for “Ghost Wave/Depravity Build” — see sources.)

Common pitfalls

  • Casting Soul Sacrifice with 1–2 Phantoms — you waste the buff. Wait until 3+ stacks.
  • Skipping INT — biggest mistake; Phantom INT bonus + Soul Breaker scaling means INT is your top damage stat here, not LUK
  • Trying to play it like AA Crit — this is a rotation build. If you click-forever, you’re doing it wrong.
  • Dropping Soul Vow / Dark Contract — souls and Phantoms compound. You need both stacks high for the burst.
